29/1/2008 rain seasonit's rain season in california now. yes, winter.
i always liked rain in tennessee, because normally, when it rains in TN, it's storm, like the pretty pink lightening and the deep thunder. from the window of my room--i had a huge glass window which is basically my entire wall--i can watch the storm and my heart would calm and be empty. it's good especially at night. but the rain in california is like the rain in shanghai. light, sticky, and continues for several days.
once they've said it never rains in southern california, then they said there's a rain season. later i heard that even though there's this rain season, it sometimes doesn't rain at all, such as 3 years ago. but then 2 years ago, it rained really hard.
what's wrong with the atmosphere and what's wrong with the climate. global warming? it's on the news everywhere, talking about heavy snows in new york and atlanta, then my parents called me telling me about the heavy snow in guangzhou and shanghai. they said, shanghai hasn't snow like this since 1984. well, i wasn't in this world yet in 1984, so i don't know how bad it snowed back then. but the snow in shanghai has reached 2 inches and the snow on the ground is almost 5 inches, at least, i've never seen such heavy snow before.
too hot or too cold are both the effect of global warming, so, maybe the earth is teaching us something here. but i still believe that california will be the last place to abandon on earth if something horrible happened and ppl are moving to Mars. 24/1/2008 back to normal msn back to normal, bravo! i went to the EECS graduate office today and helped ronnie opening envelops of those applications. yepe, it's application time again. now that i'm opening the envelop, i realized how much trouble i created last year by sending separate mails. because there are three professors who did my recommandation letter, so that's three. and school will send two copies of transcript, and that's 1 or 2, i don't know how UT did it. then there's the bank statement, and the prove of graduation, and at the end, there's this I-20 transfer thing...oh, and also, the final transcript after i graduated. so as i counted, approximately 8 or 9. well, at least i did the rest online. which means i won't send a huge package with everything in it. there's this guy from taiwan, except the application form and statement of purpose, everything is in chinese. there's not even a translation of them. guess ronnie will ask for the translation later. and then there's this indian guy, he put everything into the envelop, and then sealed it, staple around it, put it in a hardboard envelop, and then put it into a plastic one, sent by Fedex. it took me a long time to open it. oh well, glad msn is back to normal at least. and i start research, so life will be busier but full with something. |
